the need to believe: the dragon and the rooster

horoscopes, chinese ones!

horoscopes of any kind, astrological signs, oracles, and all other kinds of prophesies are rather abundant in our midsts. this is the XXI century. during the last century the americans and the soviets have been to the moon, antibiotics were discovered, and nuclear magnetic resonance was developed to a fine art, while many a righteous "scientist" insisted on finding a physiological reason for homosexuality.

the dragon and the rooster have a compatibility of 9 on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being most compatible. if you believe in this, you might as well erase me from existence. each time i seek comical relief, all i have to do is read an horoscope, mine or somebody else's, and to enhance the effect, looking up compatibility with the people whom i know will deliver pure meaningless entertainment.

i have observed on several occasions that there are wonderful creatures in this world whose apparent need to believe is so great, that they do not hesitate in believing in horoscopes. it could be that i just need to dig up a bit of compassion towards such people. i am not too inclined to taking things personally; you can ignore me, scream at me, or just throw a fit, and i will observe and wait until you have come down to the ground state to talk to you, and that is only if i need to. i have no difficulty in ignoring such displays. still, when i find somebody confusing me with some horoscope that they read somewhere in a book or on a website, i take a few steps back and wonder what went wrong.

stop making sense!

perhaps nothing went wrong. humans seem to need to believe, they will believe in anything. why is that?

p.s.: in a foul, foul mood, a rare foul mood... me, that is. whomever i might be.
