1. i can not bear to see the pictures of the people in their desperation or in their death in this catastrophe. on any other occasion i am a voyeur like any normal being, not in this. at times like this, i do regret not having studied either medicine or architecture. people with such skills can help now.

2. dear close friends missed being in the region by one day. they stopped by in Dubai, most likely that stop-over saved their lives.
3. the family that helps us with household chores here has one daughter still in Sri-Lanka. i pray that she is ok, both her parents and two brothers are in switzerland, and it was just two weeks ago that i helped her father get some information so that she can join them here.
somehow it is a lot closer to home that it seems.
