i want to go, i want to stay

"Good news for all of those who would like to start the new year with a trip to a sunny place abroad: With the British Airways Winter Special, there's never been a better time to jet off for fun and sun in Barbados, Mauritius, or Dubai. Perhaps you'd prefer the glittering nightlife of Hong Kong. Or maybe the thought of an American adventure to New York, Los Angeles, Boston or Miami appeals."

this is how British Airways announces all the ways that I could spend money with them. i have flown many a thousand miles with BA as a golden executive club member, and really, i have been to some of those places, it was work and it was fun, and right now i could not be arsed to go to any of them, not now. the glittering night life of HK does not entice me either, I never liked night life.

the first time that i was in a sunny place's glittering night life spot i was fourteen. i sat there in the company of friends and relatives and watched the unfoldings like somebody would watch a movie in a foreign language that they do not understand.

still... i am starting to get allergic reactions to marketing copy. did you ever examine the assumptions and presumptions on which they are based?

why would i want to have glittering night life when i can have what i like right here in front of the fireplace?

if i want an american adventure i will book a flight to Amman and then find my way to Baghdad.
